These underground baths are located inside the oldest still excising spa building in town. With the town also being one of the oldest bathing spa resorts of the country. I was quite impressed with its current state. The town is known for its hot springs with natural healing minerals such as sulfur, calcium and magnesium. During the 18th-century a Roman temple and a few baths were found here.
The spa provided thirty private cabinets where visitors could use a bath. The wellness also had a few larger baths. One for the men and one for the woman. I was told there was also on bath reserved for the queen of the empire. She would stay in a luxurious hotel across the street. To visit the spa she used an underground tunnel so crossing the street was not necessary.
The spa had to go through a lot. It suffered from a fire and had to be rebuilt a couple of times along history. It's been abandoned for quite a while now. There is some decay but the overall situation of the building is pretty ok.
