This former monastery is truly a remarkable architectural gem. Besides housing monks, the building also served several other purposes in history. Such as a weaving factory, seminary, hospital, sanatorium, preventorium and a place where they educated children with behavioral problems.
The history of the place dates back to the 6h-century. Sadly nothing remained from the first construction since it got destroyed by invasions. Luckily the monastery was reborn in the 11th-century, thanks to the monastic reform. Later on in history, it faced different other invasions though. Several parts of the monastery were burned down and destroyed. With the Catholic reform in the 17th-century, the monastery experienced a second resurrection. During this period the building was built as we know it today.
Nowadays most of the buildings are unused. It's uncertain if they'll receive a new purpose. In the meantime, the interior and exterior are slowly decaying.
