After walking up a stone stairwell and entering the main door one would be welcomed by this beautiful entrance hall. Wood-carved doors an ornamented ceiling, and a colorful matching blue round sofa. It was unclear to me when the villa was constructed. But some decorative tiles in the garden reveal that the history of the property dates back to at least 1874.
The round sofa who had lost one of its feet is leaning to one side. A nice contrast with all the straight lines in the room. Offsetting the harmony of the room and turning it into an interesting scene.
The blue en white plaster ceiling ornament reads 'America visitando Portugal' which is translated to 'America visits Portugal'. An American soldier is shown arriving by ship and being welcomed by a Portuguese soldier. Each corner of the ceiling ornament resembled one of the four seasons.
It is clear a lot of work was put into decorating the room. Sadly nowadays there aren't any more visitors to enjoy its beauty.
