Dopo la Tempesta

Perched on a lofty hilltop enveloped by ancient villages and verdant landscapes, stands a 14th-century church that is slowly succumbing to ruin. Remarkably, despite being abandoned and neglected for well over five decades, none of its walls or its tower has completely collapsed. Most of its roof has caved in over time, allowing light to filter through.

In the late 19th century, the area was rocked by a severe earthquake that caused partial damage to the bell tower. However, efforts were made to fully restore it to its original condition. The weather vane atop the spire still bears the year of this incident.

Dopo la Tempesta

Presently, the church, particularly the bell tower, poses a threat to the nearby villagers. There is a palpable fear that it could crumble at any moment. The residents are eager to see it undergo restoration. Regrettably, the church is privately owned, and the owners are untraceable and inaccessible. This is a lamentable situation given that the bell tower serves as a significant testament to the medieval architecture of the 1300s.
