This immense steel construction was built for trains to cross a river. Unfortunately, not one single train ever crossed it. The crossing was part of a new line that served as a shortcut. Trains would save about 10 percent of their travel time traveling towards the nearest big city.
The construction of the line started in the early sixties and would continue up until the late eighties. Just at the moment where the project was almost finished the current president of the Italian rail network company decided to prioritize another project. After this decision, the line never got completed.

Plans were proposed to turn the bridge into a crossing point for pedestrians and cyclists. But until this day it never got executed.
The title is inspired by the fact the bridge is located so remotely it never got added to an actual trip of mine. Driving here would take up many valuable hours that could be spent making photographs. Eventually, me and my buddy made the decision to actually visit it. After hours of driving, we were glad to have made this decision.
